Cooling vests and mats for dogs

This is the fact most owners have never been told: a dog has no sweat glands on its body. It regulates temperature by panting, which works well up to about twenty degrees and becomes insufficient beyond. Canine heatstroke sets in quickly and can be fatal within an hour.

The vest's trap is worth knowing: the moment it dries it becomes an extra layer and does the opposite of what you want. You re-wet it or you take it off; you never let it dry on the animal.
