Cuisine Qui Coupe

The right move needs the right tool. Not ten — the right one.

Cooking utensils, silicone and boil-over lids

Cooking almost never fails for lack of talent. It fails during the two minutes your back was turned: pasta water rising, oil poured by eye because there is no doser, a coating scratched by a metal spatula six months ago that has stuck ever since.

This aisle addresses those three moments. A lid with an overhanging skirt breaks the rising foam without you having to lower the heat at exactly the right second. A sprayer replaces the tablespoon poured by eye — a hundred and twenty calories you did not choose, and an uneven spread that burns one side. Silicone utensils over a rigid core leave the non-stick intact, which is the only way to keep it non-stick.

A word on silicone, since it dominates this aisle: it takes heat but deforms if left resting on a hot pan rim. That is not a quality fault, it is the material. A spoon rest costs less than a new set.
